ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Through daily activity, stress, motor vehicle accidents or accidents on the jobs site, your back can align incorrectly. When your spine aligns improperly, it can sever the connection between the spine and nerves causing pain. Through our three-phase process, your chiropractor will relieve pain, prevent it from reoccurring in the future, and improve overall body health. Using carefully controlled pressure, we will gently manipulate your spine into the correct positions, alleviating the stress on nerves and relieving pain.
Phases of Care
Step 1 – Relief Care
The first step in the healing process is simply relieving pain. This may require daily visits or 2-3 a week depending on the severity of your injury or condition.
Step 2 – Corrective Care
This phase builds on the results of the first phase. We ensure that you get better and stay that way! We work with you to make sure your spine aligns properly and prevent symptoms from reoccurring. This stage of treatment does not require you to receive adjustments as often, but may incorporate various exercises and stretches.
Step 3 – Wellness Care
This phase encourages overall health once your body has fully recovered. It is important to continue with the care, as routine adjustments can prevent future flare-ups.

A chiropractor can manually (non- surgically) manipulate the spine and lower back muscles and joints to reduce pain and improve functionality.
A chiropractor typically ensures to alleviate any pressure to the spinal nerve and to re-establish normal mobility through the nervous and spinal system. This is typically done by gentle manual adjustments to the lower back. Depending on the severity of pain, a chiropractor may refer you to a spine specialist or another health practitioner if needed. A chiropractor may also create a treatment plan to ensure longer lasting results depending on the patient’s ability with the aim of preventing future injury or pain.
Typically, it depends on the problem at hand, but on average, seeing your chiropractor twice per week over a 6-week period is ideal.
You may begin to feel relief after 3-4 sessions however, a chiropractor may advise you to visit up to 3 months or longer to ensure the problem is well and truly solved. The aim of chiropractic treatment is to:
- Provide pain relief
- Improve mobility and correct dysfunction
- Ensure prevention of future injury in the same area
If pain is still experienced or resurfacing after the advised amount of time, your chiropractor may change the treatment approach or advise you to see another health provider.
In some cases, your advised number of sessions may be reduced if the upkeep of exercise and any other recommendations made by the chiropractor are kept up in between the chiropractic sessions.
Physiotherapists aim to help soft tissue injuries, joint and muscular problems that can restrict movements and cause discomfort. Physiotherapists will use massage and other manipulation techniques, as well as electrical and exercise movements to restore mobility.
Treatments are focused on long term recovery, improving strength and restoring movement and function as much as possible. If your pain feels muscular or joint related, a physiotherapist is recommended.
Chiropractors perform manipulations and adjustments so that the body can work to heal itself. A chiropractor will also educate you on how to maintain and improve your lower back health after treatment by advising particular exercises, stretches and other beneficial therapies. A chiropractor aims to restore your body’s natural movement that has been lost through injury, incorrect posture or degenerative changes. A chiropractor is highly recommended for acute and chronic lower back pain as well as neck pains and some joint conditions. Chiropractic treatment may be seen as gentler compared to a physiotherapist. If the lower back feels stiff, locked, or generally sore, a chiropractor is advised.
Both practitioners are valuable for lower back pain and are suitable for all ages. Depending on the pain you can decide which suits you best or come in for an assessment and we’ll help you determine the best treatment plan.
